Welcome to AMSPE !

A May Sky Picture Entertainment (AMSPE) is a studio started by C. Fraser Press and Darren Press with a mission to create and release new narratives. We develop, write, direct, and produce projects with edge and empathy for film, tv, live theatre, and more.

OUR SLATE

AMSPE currently has multiple feature length scripts in the Comedy, Drama and Thriller/Comedy genre. Our latest project, the animated short film A Cow in the Sky, (Tribeca, Woodstock, RiverRun) is based on a true story about the 1988 murder of Mulugeta Seraw, an Ethiopian immigrant, killed by racist skinheads in Portland, OR. A Cow in the Sky combines original 2D animation and archival video footage with voice over performed by Grammy nominee Aminé. AMSPE has secured life rights and a feature narrative is in development. In addition to feature development, AMSPE is developing a museum exhibit based upon the themes of our award winning short film.

Our feature film Theresa is a Mother (Edie McClurg, C. Fraser Press) won numerous festival Best Film awards and after a theatrical release, was licensed by Netflix and is now available on Amazon and other SVOD platforms.

Our short Too Many Buddhas (Cinequest, Mill Valley) starring Maria Bamford and Maeve Press won Best Comedy at Montréal’s Just For Laughs Comedy Festival and was acquired for development.

A new web series titled Return to the Bomb, based on the critically acclaimed solo comedy show “Why we Don’t Bomb the Amish” is in pre-production.

AMSPE projects have screened at 50+ domestic and international film festivals, premiered at really cool fringes, received theatrical distribution, won awards, and have been seen all across streaming and more. We are always ready to speak with people interested in working with us.
